My name is Jana Novotná. I was born on October 15th, 1975 in Prague. When I was five our family moved to České Budějovice. My father, Petr Novotný, was born on March 3rd, 1949 in Prague. He works as the headmaster of a secondary grammar school. My mother, Marie Novotná, neé Svobodová, was born on the same day and year as my father - March 3rd, 1949. My mother works as a children’s tutor in a kindergarten. I have three brothers and sisters. Michal and Lucie are twins. They attend an elementary school with an emphasis in language instruction. My brother Pavel studies in the second year of a secondary industrial school. For one year I used to go to a nursery school. From 1978 to 1982 I attended a kindergarten. Being born in October I started to attend an elementary school one year later. During 1982-1990 I attended an elementary language school in České Budějovice. In May 1990 I passed the entrance exam for the grammar school in České Budějovice. From 1990 to 1994 I studied quite successfully at the secondary grammar school. After I passed the graduation exam with a grade of excellent, I enrolled at the Teaching Faculty of Charles University in Prague. I have been studying German and English languages here for one year. I am interested mostly in the arts. I play the piano, the guitar and the flute very well. While I have been at the elementary school I visited the National Art School in České Budějovice. During my studies in Prague I became a member of the dramatic and recitation club. Three times a week I sing in the student choir. I like reading, going to theatre performances and operas. The study of foreign languages is among my favourite hobbies. At the elementary school I studied Russian and English. At the secondary school I continued to study English but I was far more interested in German and Latin. Now I regret it because, in my opinion, English is the most important language. In addition, as an extra-curricular activity, I took part in a French language club. In the near future I would like to go to Europe and test my knowledge of languages.
