WISCONSIN

You could say that Wisconsin is a very watery state. Two Great Lakes, Superior and Michigan, line the north and east, and the Great Mississippi River borders the west. There are also more than 15,000 lakes. Wisconsin contains 2,780 square kilometers of inland water!
All this water has naturally created beautiful green scenery. Camping, picnicking, and other outdoor activities are popular during the summer.
Wisconsin is not just snow and ice storms or cows and farms. In fact, so much water and snow naturally bring desirable results in the warmer seasons - it is so green in summer, the leaves are very colorful in autumn.
Madison is a beautiful city located on an isthmus (mořská úžina) between two glacial lakes. It is the state capital, and it has one of the best universities in the country. There is also a new civic center, which was designed by the famous designer Frank Lloyd Wright. Madison also offers cultural events. During the summer Capitol Square has a farmers' market every Sunday and Concerts in the Square on Wednesday nights, where everyone comes out to picnic and listen to classical music. Part of Madison's charm is that it isn't a very large city. The population is approximately 200,000 people and it operates more on a small town level.
Wisconsinites are well-known for their love of cheese, it being such a fertile dairyland. In fact, during Green Bay Packer football games, many fans can be seen wearing huge blocks of Styrofoam cheese on their heads as they cheer on the team.
American football and the foods eaten during the games are an important element of Wisconsin life. Wisconsin people drink a lot of beer. They also eat a lot of bratwurst. Beer boiled brats are very popular before or after any football game.
Their love of bratwurst and beer could have very well come from the wide variety of cultures represented in the state. Wisconsin has a lot of cultural enclaves. The Polish, Germans, Norwegians, Belgians, the French, the Swiss, many Native American tribes, and many other distinct cultural groups have contributed to the make up of the cultural landscape. The polka is the state dance.
One trip to Wisconsin could give you insights into the U.S.A.'s favorite sport and its crazy fans, a new appreciation for cheese and other dairy products, and a good helping of snow or water sports, depending what time of year you choose for your stay. So much snow and cold weather may seem like torture to some, but Wisconsinites love those dramatic changes of the seasons. Summers in Wisconsin are full of gorgeous sunny days.
